Between 1929 and 1951 Diego Rivera painted murals in Mexico's history in National Palace in Mexico City , but could not finish all his work is remarkable the large central mural on the stairs. Today we will discuss specifically the legend of Quetzalcoatl and leave the National Palace and the rest of murals for another post.

Mural Diego Rivera on Quetzalcoatl at the National Palace in Mexico City

Quetzalcoatl means and is represented by the plumed serpent of the Aztecs, there are many examples of representations of the feathered serpent, the Sun Pyramid at Teotihuacan and in general there are many representations of Quetzalcoatl. Chichen Itza is another city where there are many representations of feathered serpent, but the Maya appointed to the god Kukulcan. And also he was known as Quetzalcoatl Olmec.

Quetzalcoatl is the highest deity of most of the Mesoamerican cultures, in the Nahuatl language . But behind this deity, there are countless legends of mysterious origin , sometimes esoteric, that can not easily be demonstrated, since the English conquistadors burned all the books of the cultures that lived in Mexico. Some

the legends (or stories) that have Quetzacóatl was a white person with a beard , which seems it might be not very common in that area, but it has shown people that there was white-skinned, bearded . Other theories seem to refer to Quetzalcoatl had features Hebrew, this legend is linked to various sources, such as that Quetzalcoatl would be a Egyptian pharaoh (Egyptian pharaohs also wore beards, sometimes plate) that had arrived with the Phoenicians (experienced sailors), so it would explain many of the unknowns about its construction, technology, knowledge of astronomy, the art of mummification and words in common between the two cultures. In the pyramid of Cheops was found a boat dating from 2600 BC. The finding of Egyptian mummies with a feathered serpent magnifies these legends.
