Krister Stendahl: "Holy Envy"


Krister Stendhal (1921 to April 15, 2008) was a Swedish theologian and New Testament scholar, Bishop Emeritus of Stockholm (Lutheran Church), professor emeritus Harvard School

Stendahl received his Ph.D. in studies of New Testament at the University of Uppsala with his thesis School of San Mateo and use the Old Testament (1954). He later taught at the School of Theology at Harvard University, where he also served as dean before being elected bishop of Stockholm in 1984. Stendhal was the second director of the Center for Religious Pluralism at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. After retiring in 1989 he returned to the United States, and was professor of theology emeritus enHarvard. He also taught at Brandeis University. Bishop Stendahl is an honorary member of the Graduate Theological Foundation.
